the low ISN'T the same for everyone [otherwise stated by italian constitution]. [link]
chevvedevodì. mah.
edit: ok, two words for the foreign friends not up to date with italian situation. in the latest decades here in italy a very rich man [also known as Silvio Berlusconi] who owns the big part of the media industry managed to get to the power by promising big changes in a period when italy needed such big changes. the politic world allowed him to do that and that's already an anomaly in a democratic country. futhermore in all the time this man has been at the power managed to create laws to protect his interests against the laws of the state, and obviously he had many to protect being involved in so many bussnesses. furthermore he - well not only 'he'.. but all his 'gang' - they managed to change the electoral law in a way that citizens can't now directly choose their representative in the parliament but only the party they want to govern. and that's another cut to the democracy. he once lost the elections with this law but unfortunately - and thanks to this control on media and also to the inconstincency of left parties - he got to destroy the left government and to reach the power again, this year, with big promises, and pushing on the biggest fears of italians: money and security. as soon as he was up there again, he started to make laws for himself - and like never before, everybody is telling it aloud, and like never before it was so clear, and like always before he just goes on doing what he does better: his interests. so yesterday a law was approved, a law that goes clearly against the italian constitution, a law that it wasn't necessary or urgent for the italian people but it was for one of them. the 3rd article of the italian constitution states: "All the citizens has the same social dignity and they're equal in front of the law, without distinction of sex, race, language, religion, politic ideas, personal and social conditions." now with this law, there are 4 persons that escape this equality, because while in charge at the highest government positions they can't be persecuted. the trials on their side have to be suspended for the time they're in charge for ALL the crimes committed during their charge or even PREVIOUSLY. once their mandate ends the procedure can go on, but that means that the 'reasonable last of the procedure' stated by law is fucked off, the RIGHT of eventual victims to get justice is fucked off, so these and other costitutional rights and duties are clearly violated. i don't pretend to know if this Mr B is guilty of something or not, but what i know is that the democracy of a EU country is at risk, if not already totally gone. i know that there are many countries in the world with a worse situation - but i think it's unbelievable that something like that can happen in the heart of EU, even if many countries are getting right winged lately, none went so far [or better, so down] like we're going here.
